Ice Hockey Victoria currently does not operate an Adults Learn to Skate Program.

However in Victoria you have two options as an adult if you want to learn how to skate and play ice hockey. Both programs have highly qualified and expert coaches who can teach future hockey players of all skill levels.

Hockey Academy – O’Brien Group Arena

YOUTH UNDER 18

Youth Hockey School offers a program specifically designed for Under 18’s. After starting out with the skating basics, the program encourages development by taking youths through a series of skill levels, from beginners to intermediate hockey, preparing them to play ice hockey.

$30 per week (intro & select/womens)

$29 per week (all other classes)

When: Tuesday and Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings, coinciding with the Victorian School Term
Who: Beginner to intermediate skaters aged under 18
Duration: 1 hour
Equipment: All equipment is provided

ADULTS OVER 18

Our Adult Hockey School offers a program specifically designed for adults 18 and over. After starting out with the skating basics, the program encourages development by taking adults through a series of skill levels, from introductory to intermediate and finally development league. Development league offers skaters the opportunity to play a supervised scrimage match each week.

Introduction

Charlie Delta 3 is an introductory course for Ice Hockey specific skating. It is structured to give you the basic skills you will need to progress through our development program.The program is for the beginner to intermediate level hockey player to develop and improve their hockey specific skating skills. The emphasis of the program is to deliver correct hockey skating while improving the foundation and movement.

Forward/Backward Hockey Stance:

Foot, Knee, Shoulder and Head position
Hockey grip on stick
Edge ability
Balance Skating

Inside/outside edge ability
Skating FWD/BKW-Stopping FWD/BKW
Explosive Starts FWD/BKW
Turning -Tight Turns

Intermediate

NLHA is pleased to present Bravo Two Zero HYBRID SKILL session. The focus of the program is for players to puck handle into higher percentage shooting positions. The program will focus on phase 2 and 3 of the NLHA’s development process (Hand Eye Coordination & Tactical Play).

B20 is focused on skills that enable you to find the open ice to get your shot off quicker for better scoring chances. This program aims to deliver the correct fundamentals of shooting and puck handling for an intermediate level hockey player while advancing skating abilities.
